The lovely Brooklyn musical duo Bow Ribbons – who will be venturing into the Cobra Den for a hootenanny soon, date TBD, p.s.! (they said yes) – is playing at Shea Stadium (no, not the actual stadium; it’s an all-ages music venue at 20 Meadow Street in East Williamsburg/Bushwick) tonight, opening up for High Places. If I didn’t have a thousand middle-aged Ohio ladies (i.e., my family) staying at my house tonight, I’d be there. So go, and let me live vicariously through you!

Our friends at BabySkinGlove are having a weekend-long Colonial-themed performance in association with Bushwick Open Studios.  Some of the roles of the BSG crew include (but are not limited to):  Village Idiot, Pagan, Wigmaker, Jug Band, Sick Person, Enthusiastic Tourist and Barnyard Animal.  Will there be sexy pillory action??  Come and see for yourself.

As usual, Joann Kim is on top of EVERYTHING GOING ON IN NORTH BROOKLYN in terms of creative events, volunteering and community involvement. She is currently co-starting a networking group for north Brooklyn freelancers (Work It Brooklyn) and promoting the efforts of folks in Bushwick to turn unwanted space in the Most Holy Trinity Church on Montrose Avenue into a community arts/dance/cooking center (like the Church of the Messiah in Greenpoint).

Register to attend the inaugural Work It Brooklyn meeting here.

Find out more about the Trinity Project here or here.

GDC teams up with Chocolate Bobka and Ray Concepcion for this awesome Mountain Man video. Featured songs include a soul-stealing Tom Waits cover followed by the beloved “Animal Tracks.” These ladies make us swooooooon.

Jethro shot & edited this behind-the-scenes footage for BabySkinGlove, as they performed the Odyssey in 10 minutes to a soundtrack of Bollywood music and weird, Turkish hip-hop. Whoa.
